I sent this question to a USA email group I belong to and got these replies - hope this of help

The usual rule of thumb is 250 mg per kg body weight per day. Ammonia excretion depends on a range of factors suc…
In French trout (O.mykiss) freshwater farm we calculate 45 kg/day (total of solid and dissolved N) for 1000 kg feed.
Ammonia excretion depend fish species and size, water temperature, feed disgestibilty energy. European seabass (D.labrax) is between…
Hi Dave,
No big thing about the punctuality of your response. It's great to see the pictures of your system though. Thanks for the reply!
As for the community garden, there was a discussion happening there about bringing a static or recycling hydroponic system to the site, but for now the focus has been on expanding the established garden. I've been off site for a few weeks so I am not sure what the most timely information is about the ongoing projects.
As for the static hydroponic system I described. I built it in a green house incloser adjacent to an outside 1x3m^3 fish tialpia tank with the baseline idea of establishing the most robust and technically simple apparatus possible. Expanding the system, in addition to the Rotating Biological Contactor floating in the fish tank, I might consider the addition of physical filtration like a covered tank/filter/baffle to consolidate and remove solids that come out of suspension along with cutting off the chlorophyll production before the plant beds. I haven't got to the point where I've tried the system with plants that may require specific trace nutrients, but an experimental design could be something like a 3x3 plant table set up: 1. straight tranfer water / 2. transfer water in addition to a measured nutrient solution / 3. a stand alone control with just prerequisite nutrinet solution. Plant monitoring, along with monitoring of the the nitrogen transformations in the system would be interesting for students I think.
you said you have a horticultre experince i was wondering what cert it goes up to i have my cert 2 in horticultre. i was wondering what other corses are going in the area because i am looking at studing that next year. thanks
It is okay I totally understand. What I will do is ask your questions in the forum and you can watch to see if any responses. If you just let me know what questions you would like answered I will ask them for you :)
Hi David, we have quite a few people on the network that will be able to help you re-aquaponics. Can I get you to post in the forum and then I will send out an email to everyone asking them if they could share their advice? If you can let me know when you have added it to the forum that would be great.
