Hi David, Re: nutrient compounds for fish and plants. Are you using one tank for both crops? In the system I ran, I separated the two so that I could block as much of the light out of my plant tanks with the hopeful goal of releasing nutrients in…

I can't speak to specific parameters for yellow perch, but I can relate some personal experience from a while back having done hybrid tilapia in conjunction with a lettuce tank. I used a rotating biological contactor that turned with air pressure.…

Re: nutrient compounds for fish and plants.

Michael sorry for the delay I have attached a photo and other info to answer some of your questions about our system and would appreciate your feedback.
In your system you mention that you ran the two systems so that “light could be block out of the plant tanks with the goal of releasing nutrients in smaller compounds to be available to plant”. You used a “simple conductivity test to determine if molecular compounds were getting too big for nutrient uptake.” This has my curiosity my background is horticulture not science but I enjoy the subject I like to understand how things work.
How is the system going at the community garden? It is winter here so growth is slow for both fish and plants. I am looking forward to the weather warming up a little (in summer here it not uncommon to get 40+ degree Celsius = 104 degree Fahrenheit).
Trace nutrient requirements for vegetables in general is the thing that I was really chasing but I love all aspects of this subject.
